In 1981, the English Learning Center began as a program of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis with the same heart and courage as the immigrants and refugees we serve. The English Learning Center is now a program of Our Saviour’s Outreach Ministries. In the past 25 years, the English Learning Center has grown to serve more than 450 adults from more than 25 countries each year.

The English Learning Center meets the educational needs of immigrants and refugees in our community by promoting the development of English language skills within a context that also supports the development of math, computer, and cultural literacy skills. This intensive, comprehensive approach helps students develop the practical skills to live in this culture as they move toward academic success and self-sufficiency.
